How It Started

Essential Coffee was founded in 2023 and inspired by a lifelong commitment to service, community, and connection. After more than two decades in emergency services, we developed a deep appreciation for the conversations and relationships that often began over a simple cup of coffee.

What started as a passion for sharing great coffee soon evolved into something much larger.

What Inspires Us

Living in coffee-producing regions introduced us to the people, traditions, and craftsmanship behind every harvest. Those experiences changed the way we think about coffee and continue to influence the direction of Essential Coffee today.

We believe every cup tells a story worth sharing.

Looking Ahead

As our understanding of coffee grew, so did our desire to become more involved in where it comes from. Through our work with Central Bean Traders, a Panamanian green coffee export company, we continue to build relationships throughout the coffee supply chain while exploring opportunities to become more directly involved in sourcing the coffees we offer.

In 2026, our family will be returning to Canada to focus on Essential Coffee while maintaining strong connections with coffee communities at origin.
